Mike attended SMSU-West Plains campus and graduated from SBU in Bolivar with a BS degree in mathematics.  Mike started his banking career in 1976 and continued his education, receiving an Applied Banking Diploma from American Institute of Banking with a major in General Banking.  Mike also attended the Commercial Lending School and the Missouri Advanced School of Agricultural Lending offered by the University of Missouri Extension Division at Columbia, Missouri.

Mike's community activities have included Ozark County Chamber of Commerce, Gainesville Lions Club, and Piland Youth Camp.
